Maintenance Protocol

Optimizing the Burn

Every 290g Wool & Clover candle is a handcrafted piece whose performance relies on precise maintenance. Formulated with pure soy wax and concentrates from Grasse, this natural material requires specific care to ensure consistent fragrance throw and maximum longevity.

Material Properties

Why does the wax surface show irregularities?

The presence of a crystalline or frosted texture is a technical hallmark of pure vegetable wax.

Unlike industrial paraffin, pure soy wax naturally crystallizes as it cools. These structural variations are the physical evidence of a natural product, guaranteed free from chemical smoothing agents, stabilizers, or petrochemical additives. This state has no impact on the burn quality or scent throw.

01. Patience

The Memory of Wax

Your candle has a memory. The very first burn is crucial to prevent it from tunneling down the center.

  • The Right Time: Let it burn for 2 to 3 consecutive hours until the wax is liquid across the entire surface.
  • The Benefit: This ensures a flat surface for all future uses and zero waste of material.
02. Maintenance

Wooden Wick Care

The performance of the maple wood wick depends strictly on its length. To ensure consistent crackling without soot emission, maintenance is required before each lighting.

  • Length Trimming: Systematically remove the charred residue (using your fingertips or a wick trimmer) to leave only 3 to 4 mm. This length is essential for optimal wax flow and capillary action.
  • Flame Quality: A wick that is too long produces an unstable flame and smoke. Maintaining a short length ensures a clean burn and consistent fragrance release.
03. Extinguishing

Preserving the Fragrance

Properly extinguishing the flame is crucial to maintaining the quality of the ambient fragrance. Incorrect methods can saturate the room with smoke, masking the delicate notes of the perfume.

  • Avoid Blowing: Blowing out the wick generates black smoke and soot, which instantly compromises the room's scent.
  • Oxygen Deprivation: Use a snuffer or replace the lid to stifle the flame. This contains any smoke and preserves the integrity of the fragrance throw.
The Afterlife

A Second Life

Once the wax is gone, the journey doesn't end there. Clean your vessel with hot soapy water to transform it into a brush holder, a minimalist vase, or a jewelry box. Our glasses are designed to last, far beyond the last flame.
